How do I join?

We make this as easy as possible! Just come along on a Friday evening and make yourself known. We meet most weeks during school terms.

A member of staff is usually on site from around 18:20, the best people to speak to would be Rob (Company Captain) or Jackie (Officer in Charge of Anchors).

Your son will be welcomed and allowed to join in with all the activities free of charge, so you can take time to decide if BB is for him.

You can either leave your son with us (we will take some emergency contact details first, just in case!) or you are more than welcome to stay for the evening to see exactly how things work.

If after a couple of weeks, your son would really like to join us, you will be given a full consent form to complete and be asked to pay the Subscription fee (We usually pro-rata this based upon the number of terms left in the year).

If you have any further questions, either come and ask us on a Friday, or email

How much does it cost?

We charge a small subscription to cover basic costs and this is generally paid at the beginning of each year. For Anchor Section boys this is currently £21 a year, or £7.50 per term
For Junior Section boys this is currently £25 a year, or £9.50 per term
For Company and Senior Section boys this is currently £30 a year or £11.50 a termWe are a uniformed organisation and expect your son to wear his uniform each week. This costs around £30 to buy, although we hold a lot of second hand stock and encourage parents to recycle old uniforms.

All music tuition and use of instruments is included at no extra cost.

Camp fees are kept as low as possible and currently stand at £50 for the Weekend Camp and £50 for the House Party weekend (Company and Senior Sections only)

We may also charge for some special activities or events, and these costs will be notified well in advance.

All BB leaders give their time and skills voluntarily and receive no payment at all.
